Alma Viola Blackwell 1940-2006

Alma Viola Blackwell passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Carthage, Missouri. She was 85 years of age.

Viola was united in marriage to Leonard James Blackwell on April 19, 1940 at Rolla, Missouri. To this union two sons were born.

Alma Viola Blackwell was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband Leonard were married for sixty three years. He preceded her in death in 2003. The two of them were well-known teachers. Viola taught the children of this area for over forty years. Viola was a wonderful Christian who manifested her love for Jesus in her service to others.
She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two sons: James Blackwell and wife Margaret of Springfield, Missouri and Donald Blackwell of St. James, Missouri; one sister: Lorraine Walls of Rolla along with three grandchildren: Todd Blackwell and wife Jill, Blake and Marc Blackwell.

Preceding Viola in death are her parents; her husband: Leonard Blackwell in 2003; a dearly loved daughter-in-law: Marcie Blackwell in the summer of 2005, one step-brother: Glenn Wilson, and one step-sister: Catherine Licklider.

Services
Viola will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri from 6 - 8 PM on Thursday, November 9, 2006.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Jess Rinehart and Steve Helterbrand officiating. Songs will be provided by the Church of Christ Singers. Pallbearers will be Todd Blackwell, Blake Blackwell, Marc Blackwell, Jamie Rinehart, Brad Bunyard, and Robert Laney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Fuhr, Jim Rinehart, Jim Branstetter, Tom Rinehart, Scott Wood, and Travis Wood. Burial will be in the family plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery in rural St. James, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to the Springfield Ronald McDonald House. Cards are available at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
