Dr. Joseph Edward Pearce 1920-2006

Dr. Joseph Edward Pearce of St. James passed away Friday March 3, 2006. He was 85 Years 3 months and 21 days of age.

Dr. Joseph Pearce was born on November 10, 1920 the son of the late Edward and Ella (Arends) Pearce.

Joseph is survived by one daughter: Lisa Christen and husband, David of St. James, Missouri; one son: Joseph Pearce and wife Rina of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Brandon & Steven Christen; Shannon & Glen Pearce; James Sledge; David Rowlay; and Michelle Miller; one niece: Dana Krell; two great nephews: Scot and Gene Krell; one brother-in-law: Scot Spradley of Whittier, California; other extended family members and friends.

Preceding Joseph in death is his parents; and one sister: Virginia Spradley.

Dr. Pearce was a dentist in Rolla, Mo. for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rolla. He enjoyed fishing and hiking with his family, and enjoyed traveling to Europe and Canada. One of his favorite hobbies was taking pictures. He enjoyed taking family pictures especially around the holidays. He was in WW II and was decorated with the Asistic Pacific Service Medal, World War Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services
Dr. Pearce will lie in state at the Missouri Veteran Home Chapel on 9:00 A.M. Monday March 6, 2006.

Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday March 6, 2006 with Pastor Walter Wonderslavin officiating. Music was provided by Linda Spurgeon, Organist and Terry Kean, Vocalist. Pallbearers Joseph Pearce, Brandon Christen, David Christen, Steven Christen, A.C. Harris and Richard Jones. Burial with full military honors will be conducted at the Missouri Veterans Home Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
