Emmitt Charles Bunton of St. James passed away at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. Emmitt Bunton was 85 years, 3 months, and 10 days of age.
Emmitt Bunton was born on May 19, 1929, to his parents: Thomas and Ceclia (Cochran) Bunton. Emmitt Bunton was united in marriage to Shirley Headrick on June 20, 1963, in Rolla.
To this union five children were born. Shirley was laid to rest on Sept. 18, 1999.
Emmitt Bunton worked in maintenance for V-K Chevrolet; and as a night watchman for Boystown.
Emmitt Bunton is survived by two sons: Rick Henson and wife Darlene of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Terry Henson and wife Kelley of Edgar Springs, Mo.; two daughters: Cheryl Watson and husband Wade; and Linda Black and husband Jim both of St. James, Mo.; three brothers: Delbert Bunton of Troy, Mo.; Darel Bunton and Donald Bunton Sr. both of Rolla, Mo.; two sisters: Edna Wolfert and husband Norman of Moscow Mills, Mo., and Genieva Crain of Troy, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Emmitt will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Preceding Emmitt Bunton in death are his parents: Thomas and Ceclia (Cochran) Bunton; wife: Shirley Bunton; one daughter: Linda Kay Bunton; two brothers: Herman and Thurman Bunton; one sister: Juanita Martin.
Graveside services for Emmitt Bunton will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at the Asher Cemetery with Don Harris officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Cards are available at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
