Elmer Lee Wilhite 1916-2006

Elmer Lee Wilhite of St. James, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Springfield, Missouri. He was 90 years of age.

Elmer was born August 28, 1916 at Joplin, Missouri, the son of the late Harrison and Jessie Mae (Greenwell) Wilhite. He was united in marriage to Mary John Crowe in Owensbury, Kentucky. To this union two sons were born.

Elmer was a Veteran of WWII and Korean War and was Retired Military. He loved to travel and enjoyed fishing.

Elmer is survived by two sons: Elmer Wilhite and wife Claria of Aiken, South Carolina; and Douglas Wilhite and wife Bettie Marie of Rolla, Missouri, six grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Elmer will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Elmer is preceded in death by his wife: Mary John (Crowe) Wilhite; one brother: Harrison Wilhite; and one sister: Daisy Burdette.

Services
Services were conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Missouri Veterans Home Chapel with Reverend Amy Turner officiating. Lori Garver was the vocalist with Linda Spurgeon as the organist. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans Home Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
