Mary I. (Voyles) Davis 1908-2006

Mary I. Davis of St. James, Missouri, passed away at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, July 4, 2006. She was 97 years of age.

Mary was born on December 26, 1908 to her parents: Jesse and Cora Edith (Bell) Voyles. Mary was united in marriage to Lowell J. Davis on December 1, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. To this union two children were born.

Mary worked at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center from 1951 to 1974 as a registered nurse. She worked for a few years in St. Louis in private duty and also in the Christian Hospital in St. Louis. Mary was very active in the Civics Club, Garden Club, Mite Society of St. James Christian Church and the Golden Age Center. She loved to play bridge, knit, sew, and do hand work. Mary was a member of the St. James Christian Church and the 17th District Nurses Organization. She volunteered for the Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Mary was always a very active lady.

Mary is survived by one daughter: Betty Cahill and husband Randall of St. James, Missouri; one son-in-law: Frank Rice of Florida; three grandchildren: Donn Cahill of St. Peters, Missouri; Loren Cahill and wife April of St. James, Missouri; and Miranda Medrano and husband Jose of California; two great-grandchild: Ty Cahill and Audrey Cahill of St. James, Missouri; and a God Daughter: Ellen Tutoli of Columbia, Missouri; a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents: Jesse and Cora Edith (Bell) Voyles; her husband: Lowell J. Davis on September 29, 1993; and one daughter: Cindy Rice; two sisters: Opal Moss and Clara Litherland; three brothers: Paul, John Edward and Murel Voyles.

Services
Mary will lie in state from 6 - 8 PM on Friday, July 7, 2006, at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Brother Aaron Jeffers officiating. Pallbearers will be Loren Cahill, Donn Cahill, April Cahill, Jim Lange, Miranda Medrano, and Jack Smoot. Music will be provided by Lori Rivers singing Amazing Grace and In The
Garden. Interment will be in the family plot in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital. Cards are available at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
